So, you’re ready to level up your online presence in 2026. Maybe your current site feels a bit stale, maybe you're launching something new, or maybe you’ve been burnt before by some cookie-cutter template job that looked nothing like what you were promised. Wherever you're at, listen up.

It’s Not Just “Web Design” Anymore
Here’s the thing. In 2026, a good web designer is no longer just a web designer. You're not paying someone to drag a few blocks onto a screen. You're investing in someone who knows branding, UX, responsive design, SEO, copywriting, marketing strategy, and, let’s be honest, how to keep up with an ever-growing list of platforms, tools, and trends.
You want someone who understands how to get people on your site, keep them there, and lead them to do something valuable. Whether that’s buying, booking, subscribing or even just reaching out.
What I’ve Learned From the Past 4 Years
Over the last four years, I’ve had the chance to design for a huge range of businesses across web, branding, and print media – from rebrands and logo refreshes to complete industry-leading website launches. Most of that experience comes from my full-time role at Monday Media, where I’ve learned the ins and outs of building results-driven, strategic design that actually performs.
Most people don’t actually want a website. They want results.
They want something that looks good, feels right, works properly on mobile, shows up on Google, and actually represents who they are as a business. That doesn’t come from throwing together a template and calling it done. It comes from custom, considered design that’s built around your goals, your audience, and how you want your business to grow.
A Quick Rant About Templates and AI
Templates are fine if you're okay with blending in. AI-generated content is cool unless you want to stand out. But if you're after something unique, professional and built to elevate your business in a real way, you're gonna need more than shortcuts.
And yes, I use AI where it makes sense. Automations, performance insights, and even content assistance, it’s all part of my toolbox. But I don’t let robots design your brand. That’s all me.
What You Should Look For in a Designer
If you’re looking to hire a web designer in Perth, or honestly anywhere in 2026, here’s what you should be thinking about:
Do they understand your business? If they jump straight into colours and fonts without asking about your goals, run. Do they design from scratch? Or are they repurposing something they built last week? Can they explain what they’re doing clearly? You shouldn’t need a degree in design to understand what you’re paying for.
And most importantly… Do you like them? This is a partnership, not a transaction. You want someone you trust, who listens, and who genuinely cares about getting you results.

Final Thought: Your Website Is an Investment, Not an Expense
There’s always a cheaper option. But cheap design costs more in the long run, in lost trust, bad conversions, and the inevitable “we need to redo this” moment.
