This Is What Happens When a Creative Agency Gets a Proper Website

I reached out to Harry with one message. Your website isn't good enough and I can do better. That was the start of one of my favourite builds.

We caught up for a coffee, I walked him through what I had in mind, and he was on board. That conversation turned into one of the most enjoyable and genuinely unique website redesigns I've done.

What Harry Actually Wanted

Once we got into it, Harry had a clear sense of direction. He kept coming back to this idea of a dark, grayscale website, professional, modern, and a little bit moody, but blended with cartoonish hand-drawn elements that added personality and stopped it from feeling too corporate.

It's not a brief you hear every day. But honestly, it's the kind of brief I love as a Perth web designer. Dark and professional on one side, cartoonish and fun on the other. When you get the balance right, it looks genuinely unlike anything else out there.

So that's what we went for.

The Design Direction

The foundation of the site is a dark, grayscale aesthetic. Deep backgrounds, strong contrast, clean typography, layered with custom hand-drawn illustrative elements that break up the seriousness and give the brand real character.

Then there are the animations. Subtle entrance animations and micro animations throughout that make the whole thing feel alive without getting in the way. It's the kind of detail people don't consciously notice, but they feel it.

What I Built Into the Site

A good-looking website is one thing. A website that actually works for your business is another. With Harry's build, we made sure every section had a purpose.

The site includes a fully custom hero section with video, clearly laid out pricing so potential clients know what to expect before they even get in touch, an image and video gallery with smooth carousels to showcase his work properly, and custom hand-drawn style elements woven throughout to keep the personality consistent.

We also built in a testimonials section that doesn't look like every other generic review block you see on agency sites, a lead capture form for enquiries, and a booking calendar so potential clients can jump straight into a discovery call without any back and forth over email.

The goal with all of that is simple. Harry should be waking up to booked discovery calls, not chasing leads manually. The website does that work for him.

The Reaction

I even got a clip of Harry seeing the finished design for the first time. Blown away is the best way to describe it. That reaction never gets old. It's the whole reason I do this.

Early Results and What's Coming

The site is only just live but it's already tracking well. Organic traffic is picking up and Harry's booking calendar is starting to fill. At the rate things are going he might even need to bring someone on to help manage the demand.

That's what a properly built custom website design delivers. It's not just something that looks good, it's something that actively works for your business in the background while you get on with the work. Harry went from a website that was letting him down to one that's sending him qualified leads and getting him in front of the right people.

What Harry Had to Say

"Worked with Nathan on the Jolt Agency website and the result blew me away. I came to him with a rough vision, some loose ideas, references, a few examples of things I thought could work, and he took all of that and turned it into something cohesive and polished that I'm genuinely proud to send clients to. Fully responsive, dialled in on every detail, and he made smart decisions along the way that elevated the brief. Nathan's the kind of creative you can trust with your ideas and he'll run with them. Highly recommend."

Why This Kind of Website Matters

If you're in a creative industry, design, marketing, photography, anything visual, your website has to reflect your work before a potential client even reads a word.

Harry is a designer. His website needed to scream that from the moment someone lands on it. A template was never going to cut it. An AI generated layout wasn't going to cut it. He needed something built from scratch, with his brand and personality running through every part of it.

That's what custom website design gives you. Full creative control, a result that actually reflects your business, and something you can build on over time. Whether you're a small business website designer searching for inspiration or a business owner who knows their current site isn't working, the difference a proper build makes is night and day. Templates cap you out. Custom builds grow with you.
